MOONSTONE : Alternatively, the story might begin with intrigues at the Court of Emperor Mobius, where rival merchants orchestrated the destruction of his parents, appropriated their holdings, and caused our Thoom to be exiled in shame for purely imagined crimes. Aye, the story might be begun here, but so many of my readers have such tales of their own; truly, the telling of it does not appeal to our current interest.Or perhaps the story begins with a now-humbled Thoom, flotsam cast ashore in a hostile land, one of many such exiles whom the Court of the Emperor did not expect (and did not desire) would long survive. It was in this land that our Thoomish agonist first heard the calling which would utterly capture his heart and soul, for there were many in need in this land, and he could not turn away from them. He would become a healer.
MOONSTONE : Of these beginnings, we could say more, but we shall not, for I sense a restlessness among my readers: you wish to hear of the curse of Argh’s Moonstone, and of its lifting. Thus we brush all such precursors from our path, and proceed to the telling of this tale as it should be told. And in any event, this is not truly a story about a Thoom after all.Lurking in dark-filled caverns and tree-shrouded forests is another outcast of sorts. He calls himself Zonk; but this is probably not his true-name. He is thousands of years old. He is more than a little mad.This Zonk is known to be a Darshak, of the race that spawned foul and heretical religion, conspiracies, murders, and piracy. It is said that theI tried to follow these events as they unfolded, but I am afraid to saythat I had only a very small view of the picture. Thank you Argh forsharing your experiences with us. Thank you even more for having suchcourage to stand up and defeat this evil.
MOONSTONE : You say that Zonk holds his Arachnoids in check for worry of Morbius'Sentinels. Would that include the Sentinel in our square? Does this foulspy of the Emperor actually serve to protect our town?I must say that the presence of a being such as Zonk worries me to noend. The power he wields is immense; the forces he has under his control,monstrous. That he still lives somewhere, planning more suchwickedness... Though my sword is not the mightiest in the land, I offer you whatprotection I can Argh. Please call upon me if ever you need myassistance.As to the role of the Emperor's sentinals: thus whispers the Muse intomy ear flaps... the sentinal protects the Emperor and his interests, notour own.This Muse has a name: Imagination. And she is very useful, for withher aid, one might extrapolate from inadequate facts, in hope ofglimpses of the truth beyond them. This Muse, however, is whimsical,and often plays happily with vision. In her moods, truths may berevealed by her; just as often, if not more so, she may lead us astray.
MOONSTONE : No, No, and again No, I say. The Sentinel is a foul brute and protectsnothing but his own base and immoral interests. We are best rid of him andthus do I devote my services to this thankless task.BEGONE, miscreant, foul tyrant, so-called Sentinel. Squire West and I havethee well marked. We watch thee carefully and thou shalt rue the day thatthou ever didst arrive in this Land. Heed my words, verminous pustule, andprepare thyself for thy well-deserved infamy.I do agree the Sentinel is a fiend and needs to be destroyed, m'Lord, butI worry this may let loose a greater evil. My sword is of course yours tocommand, but I have always thought that the unknown enemy (Zonk) is farmore dangerous than the known (Sentinel).Perhaps it may be best to deal with Zonk and his minions first.

It may be that I have been misled by mine own angerand distress at the foul glances that the coward Sentinel doth cast uponMy Beloved. No knight is perfect and without flaw, and I especially may beeasily misled due to the small nature of my brain.Heh. That was a tale well worth reading! Is that a name intended to drive fear into the hearts of all the realms' citizens? I can't help but visualize something hideously cute, purple, with pink fuzz for a mane and tail, and looking somewhat like a ... muppet.
