AMBER BEADS : Out of the blue, my mom has expressed a desire for an necklace madewith amber beads. It just so happened that in their March-April flyerFire Mt had a big sale of amber. However, they are all sold out for themoment. Does anyone have any suggestions of where else I can search for amberbeads. I am open to almost any shape (except chips) but would preferrounds. I am assuming that any beads will be pressed Baltic amber. Ifound one strand in a bead shop, but they wanted $69 for a 16 inchstrand. Way out of my price range! **************************************** ********************** I have UCE SPAM protection in my return address!! Trust me. I don't want what you're selling! And, UCE spammers, I WILL report you to your postmaster!! Remove PENNSTATE in your email reply. Email to: **************************************** ***********************I understand that some amber is from the Dominican Republic. Here is the URL of one place that sells amber, I have never bought fromthem.

AMBER BEADS : ---------------------------------------- --------------------- The BronxLefthanded needleworker, doll lover and chess player---------------------------------- -------------------------I got another Fire Mountain Flyer today, and amber is in there. Rounds andshapes.Hi, I have a shop in Seattle, The Artifacctory, where I sell great old stuff, beads and specialize in polymer art by various artists around the country. There is an amber company called Garcia amber and also amber may be purchasedat bead, gem and mineral shows that travel around the country. You can get inusually for about $2-$4 or free if you are a retailer. The Baltic amber priceyou quoted is reasonable and I doubt if you will find amber for less even atwholesale prices. If you do, it's probably not amber. There is a lot of fakestuff which is really beautifyl and cann't be easily distinguised from the realthing so maybe that is your best option. I make "fake" copal amber beads andartifacts, they are really beautiful and interesting but more expensive thanreal amber. I have a web-site which I don't keep up to date but you mightstill enjoy visiting.... Good luckwith the amber hunt!

AMBER BEADS : On Wednesday night I have listed some pearls, amber beads, 8mm lapis beads, a multi-stone oval super special, and abalone beads. All are full strands. On Thursday night I have both 6mm and 8mm cathedrals in the usual colors in both gold and silver ends. These are such great beadsand continue to be one of my more popular styles.A word about the amber beads - I go to bead shows 5-6 times a year and at every one I see lots of amber - chunks, graduatedrondelles, cabs, and lots of finished jewelry. What I DON'T see are small BEADS, except for one lone vendor at Tucson. This vendoralways has lots of small beads at reasonable prices. Amber remains rather pricey, and what was shown in Tucson this year was noexception. I feel very fortunate to be able to add amber beads to my auction mix each spring at reasonable prices. I hand pick thehanks I purchase, looking for consistency in size, color and quality. They are especially nice this year.

AMBER BEADS : What you need is a good ol' time with some freeform peyote. that'lllooen you up ! Or chuck the patterns and just make it all up as you goalong. I sound sarcastic but i mean it ..... learn to just let it go andbe free. Select the beads and go play , make up an abstact pattern thatis different .Wow!! Thanks everyone. These suggestions have been wonderfuland inspiring. I like the idea of just playing with the beadsfor a while. I guess I feel that everytime I touch a bead Ihave to make something from them.So Im off to "play" with my beads and hope inpiration strikes.* Sent from RemarQ The Internet's Discussion Network *The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free! This sounds very familar - drag out everything in the same color range or whatlooks nice next to it!>Didn't even use what I thought was going to be the heartof the

AMBER BEADS : this happens to me as well - especially with "difficult" colors - the rest ofthe pile looks fine, but the original beads don't go. I tend to start with anidea of the final form, tho - I know whether I want a lot of 4mm-ish beads, orlarger 8mm ones, rounds or shapes, etc. Lori SousaBriarrose Designshandcrafted jewelry, traditional care, contemporary flairHi VikkiLynn,I've had this problem recently as well...went and took a beadclass from none other than Jeanette Cook, and boy am I inspired!I was blown away by her sculptural peyote work, and am in theprocess of creating my own "attempt" at a necklace. It certainlywill never rival Jeanette's work, but it sure got me out of myslump (which lasted almost a year, partly because I changed jobsand just didn't have the energy left for beadwork). Check the beadshops in your area for classes coming up and see if you can get intoone...especially something you've never tried before!
