AUNTIES BEADS : usually have to go from the bottom to the top back to the bottom, soit takes a long time.the fact is, i have been starting trends my whole life, but they takeup to 5 years to incubate. i come up with an original idea, likewearing pants under my dresses, or bringing back bell bottoms, and ido it for a while, and am my usual outcast self, someone sees me,maybe one, maybe two other independant minded people who think, heythats cool and different, and then it sweeps around for a while, andby the time enough thinkers like it and pick it up to get it to amagazine and spread it to the masses, i am sick of it and want to havenothing to do with it, i am on to my next, or at that point maybe 4thor 5th independent thought re fashion.... (i hope i have more then 4thoughts every 5 years....) and this is the case for lots ofindependent thinkers (even the ones who cant spell) who only takefashion tips from other people they think look cool, and notmagazines.... so there ya go.

Netsuke for $5-20, bakelite banglesand beads...My ownstore was all new wearable art but had recycled elements and stylesincorporated, and I used a lot of vintage bits and pieces on my dolls. Andstill do! The BEST part of knowing the people in the "rag" trade was that a fewof them would save me the interesting bits that were just too far gone forselling, ripped out whooped up falling apart--but cool collar, or niftybuttons, or yummy lace on the mothholed sleeve. They'd collect a big bag fullof scraps they would otherwise toss, and trade it to me for something I madethat they liked! Barter and Trade is one of the very valuable aspects of beingan artist.Sarajane

AUNTIES BEADS : That is so cool! Maybe you'll start a new trend.. Aprons, not just forbreakfast anymore.I love aprons too. I dont collect them or have one currently but I have apattern for a fancy one with ruffles at the shoulder..It would make a greatpocket alternative! And, since I dont like carrying a purse anymore it wouldbe a neat way of stashing stuff.DiI don't carry a purse any more -- I've gone over completely to a belt-pouch (what they call a "fanny pack" when someone on a racing bike is wearing it). I found one which holds my billfold and checkbook, keys, pens, a few important papers, my emergency address book (the one containing the phone numbers of everyone I know in another city, in case I'm in that city and have car trouble; it's saved my hide several times!), and some business cards. It also has a cellphone pouch, on the occasions when I need to have that with me. I don't have to worry about walking off and leaving it somewhere; I have both hands free to deal with other things; and because it's compact, it doesn't turn into a 20-pound weight from having all sorts of junk stuffed into it. The only thing I miss about my old purse is being able to carry a paperback book with me, to read when I'm having to sit and wait somewhere.

They have a$100 minimum, though.
