BRACELET CHARMS : Semi-precious stones, the sort you find in hippie shops, nicely polished andall.Sci-Fi and fantasy books. Joel tends towards military sci-fi, I end towardsthe fantasy end of the spectrum but between us we have a hideously largecollection of sci-fi books, mostly trade paperbacks from the cheapy bins.Cat books. A growing addiction, with Flippy's book page making it far farworse ;-)80's music. It has to be a particular type of 80's music, though, so its notso much a *collection* so much as an attempt to get all the music I wantedwhen I was a teenager. Unfortunately some of it was so, err, *distinctive*it has never crossed over from vinyl to CD and probably never will. And ithas to be the original CD, none of this Kazaa stuff (unless I'm trulydesperate)Pyra-Meows (Egyptian themed cats) that came out of Kinda Surprises. Boy didI eat alot of Kinder Surprises to get those (it was torture!). But I couldnever get the last one (there were 10 in the set) and I don't think I everwill now.
BRACELET CHARMS : I have all of Enid Blyton's The Famous Five books in one particular editionI have about 3/4 of all the Trixie Belden books in the first paper backedition and didn't realise that they are collectable - I thought now that Ihad some spare $$$ I coudl fill in the ones that I am missing - but not atup to $100 a book (I dread to think what my collection is worth now)Cat Cups, and although this was never an intentional hobby I now have 6different ones.Joel collects CCG cards (whatever one he's playing at the time - we havegazillions of old CCG cards sitting in boxes), Manga CDs and XBOX games.Oh, and pretty shiney sparkly things and anything else that grabs myattention at the time. I do *not* collect handbags and shoes.

I know that Just Nan has a freebie design called "CharmGarden," which has flowers surrounding five spots you can put charms.It would be really easy to extend the pattern for more, though (it'sfairly geometric. You can see a picutre (and request the freepattern!) here: Or, you could just pick your favorite border and do the same sort ofthing...just divide some linen up into squares with your favoriteborder and attach the charms in the squares. BRACELET CHARMS : Forgive me, I am a new subscriber to this newsgroup. Maybe this question has been hashed before, but here goes: my mother in law does professional wedding cakes. She has done a shower cake years ago, in which the shower hostess had charms (like bracelet charms) that my mother in law put ribbon on and set them down into the icing of the cake. The hostess had purchased these charms, very inexpesnively at a 5 and dime store. Each of these charms had a significance having to do with either the bride or the wedding itself. I don't know where she got these or exactly what each were about, but would like to hear from people if they know anything about this. Oh and I think the guests were the ones that took the charms out of their piece of cake, and the charm they got had to do with the wishes for the bride and groom. A horseshoe would be luck to the couple, a heart for love, etc. I would like to see some really creative ideas, can you help? Lori B
