BRIDAL NECKLACES : Louisville, KY - I just stopped in to look around on a Saturday afternoon, and I think I ended up finding "the" dress. Anyhow, it was a differentexperience from most of the bridal shops I'd been in. First off, they hadmy size, right there, on the rack. Amazing! Secondly, even though I toldthe salesclerks what I wanted (off-the-shoulder, portrait collar and Iwon't even consider *anything* else; a preference that most other bridalshop employees seem to ignore), I was free to just browse through thestore and pick what I wanted. The woman helping me was just that-helpful. Not pushy at all, but then I made clear that I lived five hours away. Anyhow, she dashed around getting a slip, bra, and shoes for me, trackeddown a different size dress when I had delusions of a smaller size andthen helped me get the dresses on. She also let me parade around for ahalf hour in the dress I *really* liked. Brought me mirrors, veils, necklaces. In my opinion, service was perfect; they left me alone todecide what to try on, then were helpful once I actually had the dresseson. Price was fantastic, in my opinion, and I hear they have sales fairlyfrequently, a good thing since I still have a year. The dress I like was$549, still under what I budgeted, and would require *no* alterations(yay!). I'm still hoping for a sale. As for quality, the tulle didn'titch, which is good enough for me! A few days after I got back home fromLouisville, I got a note in the mail thanking me for stopping by.
BRIDAL NECKLACES : Where have people been buying their wedding jewelry? I don't meanrings--we've already ordered ours and splurged on something nice, sincethey're one of the few things from the wedding day we'll keep, otherthan each other. :-) I'm thinking about necklaces, earrings, and thelike. I rarely wear necklaces other than a somewhat beat-up Celticcross, my ears aren't pierced (once they were, but they kept gettinginfected and I decided it wasn't worth it), and I don't have manyoccasions in my life where elaborate jewelry is called for. Also, ourfamily doesn't exactly have any heirloom pearls or diamonds lyingaround! All that being said, I'm tempted to get something really cheap andsimple for a wedding necklace. A couple weeks ago I was in a mallaccessories store looking for hair clips, and I saw some necklaces offaux pearls, rhinestones, and the like that looked fine to me. But I'mno expert. Will people be able to tell cheap accessory-store fakepearls from expensive department store ones? BRIDAL NECKLACES : --Looking for a good read? Check out the personalized readingrecommender at Most people probably can't tell the difference, period. Those who do,look for how the pearls fall. Cheaply-strung pearls are strung withoutknots between the beads, so the beads rub against each other, and thenecklace may not sit along your neck in a graceful arc. When you buyyour pearls, look at how they're strung: if you see tiny knots betweeneach pearl, it can "pass" for a more expensive necklace. This is hard tofind even at department stores, btw -- my best luck has been at Sears, where I found a short pearl necklace for just $10 a few years ago.I bought my friends necklace at JcPenney it was on sale for like $18. Nooneever noticed that it wasn't real, at least I don't think it was. In facther husband gave her a very expensive locket with her father's picture init(her dad passed away a few years ago and this way he would be with her onher wedding day) she was really undecided what to wear that day. He gave itto her just before the pictures...I went in to check on her cuz I knew she'dbe crying..I asked her if she wanted to wear it. she tried it on with thepearls and decided that that wouldn't work. I told her that just because Ibought the pearls didn't mean that she had to wear them. she said she likedhow the pearls looked with the dress. So she wore the pearls at thewedding, the locket was arranged into her bouquet open so she could see herdad's picture. At the reception she switched necklaces and all wa fine. Itdoesn't matter how much you spend on your jewelry its wether you like it andif it looks good with you dress. BRIDAL NECKLACES : If you don't normally wear much jewelry, why wear it on your wedding day? If it's not *your style* to wear elaborate jewelry, why start now? Besides, many wedding dresses look fine with out accessories. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Trystan L. Bass @-->--- a.g.f.faq.chick gothic martha stewartebay sales at Well, when it comes to that, it's not my normal style to wear whitesatin ballgowns with chapel trains, either. :-) My dress is plain, with practically no ornamentation--the skirt is of a different fabric, and there's a row of round buttons down the back, but there's nobeading, no lace, no embroidery. I fell in love with it because of itsplainness--I feel ridiculous wearing anything frilly and frou-frou.But, I really think it needs a pearl or pearl-and-rhinestone choker tofinish it off.--Looking for a good read? Not only would this be economically attractive, but it might add sentimental value to your outfit, as well as gettingyou out of that "something borrowed" dilemma. My aunt was inspired tovolunteer to haul some of my grandmother's jewlery out of the safetydeposit box, for the special occasion. Maybe something like this wouldwork for you?
