BUGLE BEADS : Hi all, i've de-lurked for a moment to ask a question that hopefullysomeone can answer for me. I have these silver bugle beads that aremetal and not glass. I have never seen beads like this before in thebead stores around where I live (or I'm looking in the wrong place).my question is, where would I be able to find more? how can I find outif they are real silver? They have black tarnishing on them,characteristic with silver...but that doesn't prove they are the realdeal. If anyone can give me some insight about these beads, I wouldappreciate it very much.TIA,ValerieCould they be "liquid silver"? They sort of sound like that. Liquid silver"beads" are pretty thin, though, compared to what we generally callbugle beads. How does their size compare to the regular glass bugles?
BUGLE BEADS : They may be "liquid silver" beads-- which can be either solid sterling orsilver plate. I checked them out along with aquick search. I now do believe that these are liquid silver beads.Pretty thin...the outside diameter is a little larger that the insidediameter of a glass bugle bead. Hmmm...now what to do with them...
BUGLE BEADS : I plan to make beaded fringe for a dance costume. I have never done beadingbefore & am somewhat overwhelmed with all the choices of beads. I would liketo make a two to three inch fringe to go around the bottom of my skirt & alsoup & down a slit of the skirt. My guess is that I will be making about 40 to50 inches of fringe.My costume is going to be a neon (lime) green & have crystal & peridot (palegreen) rhinestone throughout. At first I thought I would make 2 inch fringewith gold silver lined bugle beads with green seed beads. I have seenpearlized silver bugle beads at the store & now wonder what would look best. Iwant to get all the sparkle & shimmer & movement that I can. Since I want touse crystal rhinestones (I have a ton left over from another project) I wonderif I should go the silver/pearlized route rather than the goldish one. Thiscostume is for ballroom dancing & glizt helps.
BUGLE BEADS : Any suggestions on size & color of beads? I want some green in the fringe. Don't know if I could mix green & silver (or gold) bugle beads & then add somegreen/gold/or silver seed beads. What size bugles should I get if I want 2 to3 inch fringe? What size seed beads should I use? Do they need to match up? Ihave seen beaded fringe at the fabric store & the beads are much larger thanthe 11/0 I bought just to try out.I don't know what pattern I would follow. Depending on the size of the buglebeads I thought, bugle bead, seed, bugle, seed, bugle & then end with a seed. Should I mix colors such as green bugle, other colored seed, then silver orgold bugle?
BUGLE BEADS : I have never done beading before & the fabric stores I have visited havelimited beads. I have done some searching on the web & have found some goodsites. Just don't know what & how much of anything to buy.DiDance: What a great question. I have a few suggestions, but they are comingfrom an embroiderer not a costumer, so take them as you will.The first consideration is weight. Beads weigh alot more than standardfringe. I would make up a 6 to 12 inch wide test sample at both a 2 inchand three inches depth and weigh it, play with it to see how it moves.Or make an anklet and see how it feels when you dance. This type ofweigh and movement is different from standard fringe.I bet you want to finish this right away, but a sample would help youmake adjustments early on.
