Newsgroups: Date: 1999/02/24 here's my take on class rings... if you're a sophomore or early junior in highschool (and a guy) you MIGHT want to get one... but.. if you don't wearjewelry to begin with.. then don't. Just think about the cost versus thevalue of wearing it for... maybe 2 years will be worth. (No one in college orabove really wears their high school class rings for the most part.)

If you are deep withpride for your school you should get one. This is from personal expierence butI'm at a school that his high on pride. We're one of the best athletic highschools in New England, and we have a very high academic program. So basicallyit's a pride thing for me, but if you don't want a ring, don't get one. And I'm usuallyreassured by the fact that they seem to be." ~ Dave Matthewsi got a class ring sophomore year and I have never even put it on my finger formore than a minute...i think they are cheesey but i know that it's the wholesentimental thing when i'm older so i guess i'll hang on to itwell since i'm a girl i'll put my two cents in...got a ring from jostenssophomore year...ended up getting the $75 version(seriously) but its stillprettydamn cool...my birthstone(august) is puke green so i went with the semischoolcolor o january. i think i've worn it everyday since then and i'm asophomore in college...execpt for when i lost it in my friends backyardwhen i was playing football senior year...replaced it. but i feel naked ifi don't wear it. my ring and two hemp necklaces and a big ass target watchare all my jewelry (excpt fer my ears..recently double pierced and gotsthe cartilege done too)
CLASS RINGS : way too much ramblinga'ight i'm outtiekatie the snow angel for real cuz its SNOWING!!but i do have to say that guys rings are really huge...but they are cooland you can give em to your girlfriend and she can wear it around her neckon a necklace and she'll be cool....ummm yeah ooh funny class ring story...my mom got her class ring and all with agold d in the stone fer downers grove north and in chemistry she dissolvedthe gold out so theres just this engraved d in the pruple stone...its coolcool...i'm from westmont but goto school down in chamoaign-urbanaI got a class ring, from WalMart, stainless steel, birthstone, initials,engraved name on the inside, graduating year and a rugby symbol thing, $69.
CLASS RINGS : I graduated in June of '99 and as soon as I graduated I stopped wearing myring. My ring wasn't too expensive, so I feel that I got my money's worth (Iwore it everyday for 2 years) and now I have a beautiful memento.My advice is, if you really really want a ring, don't get the all-out best andmost expensive. That way, if you decide you don't want to wear it later youwon't be out $300.---------------------------------------- -----------------Check out my high-end cosmetics auction on eBay featuring Nars, MAC, BobbiBrown & more I totally disagree ... I got my class ring in the latter part of my senior yearand I am still wearing it, even though I am now about to go pick up my collegering. And I like the hs ring so much I moved it over to my left hand and Iwill wear my college ring on my right. If you find a ring you really like, gofor it. I paid $250 for my ring and although it is overpriced for just a goldring, it is worth every penny to me.
