GellerPresident, Jewelry Artisans, Inc, Atlanta, GaCustom design and Repair Studio I have not heard of Wellington Rings (they are probably a local trade name, and I live in Sweden), but if the stone is as old as the ring then it cannot be Cubic Zirconia. CZ was invented by some egghead in the 70s, so there are no 40 year old stones yet. My guess is that you have either a GGG (call it a synthetic colourless garnet, for simplicity's sake), a piece of strontium titanate (another synthetic with lots of colour- flashes), a synthetic spinel (colourless but without any of the diamond's "fire"), or perhaps a natural zircon. The latter is not very likely, but as you mention cubic zirconia you could have mistaken the names; the zircon is a true gemstone and can sometimes be rather valuable. If you have any of the synthetics I am afraid that the ring is not worth many dollars more than its scrap value in gold.
DIAMOND RINGS : i have two (2) size 4 diamond rings somewhat like an anniverary ringwith several diamonds. they were to be ring guards for an engagementring. they are of little use now and probably not worth what i paidfor them. I dont forsee it being to hard to turn those into earrings depending ontheir design. If Im pictureing them right it should probably just be a matterof taking off the shanks softening the edges and soldering on a post. Although thats overly simplified and I havent seen the earrings, I cantsee it being real expensive. I dont see it being over $100.00 and it probablywont be over $50.00. Again keep in mind I havent seen them. If theres more workinvolved it could be more money.I assume that this method would work, but each of the diamonds would have to beremoved (wouldn't they?) and reset, so the cost may be increased due to laborcost?
