DONUT BEADS : Whether they come in different sizes I cannot say. I can barely afford allthe 11/0 colors I want. To start a collection of 5/0 or 6/0 Delicas wouldcertainly break my bank. :{Hmm. I'm really beginning to drool over the prospect of 8/0 Delicas.-Howard M.(Fade to background: "Honey, can I have some more bead money?")Thanks Howard! That makes a lot more sense to me. I haven't bought my firstDelicas yet. I am afraid, very afraid.Yes.The "regular" Delicas/Antiques are ~11/0. Large ones are ~8/0. Precious metalones (accents) are half the length-along-the-hole of the regular. There arealso hex shaped ones, which are close in size to the regular ones.Kaytee and just to keep things hopping, in the fire mountain catalog, I believeI saw some of the Delica's , called Fancy that are smaller, like 15/0's.Book is downstairs though.
DONUT BEADS : FMG has screwed up with that before, is that an old catalog? Delicais the name for only Miyuki cylinders. The Miyuki 15s are just 15s.I went to Tap Plastics out here one time, to get some plastic stuff cut. They told me that when they measure, they take it back to the cutter to cut, then the original person measures it again (if it is something that needs tobe within a certain range)...because of the fact that rulers aren't alwaysaccurate to each other, that and the fact that people "measure" different, where you eye the line, etc.No..... Science major, who took a lot of art classes. In both depts (the firstmeasuring in metric units, the other in inches/feet/etc), it was well knownthat the ends of the available rulers were messed up and therefore inaccuratefor any other than approximate measures (for which I used my thumb, my handspan, cubit, etc., rather than find the ruler....). DONUT BEADS : I used the metal carpenters' tape because that is the one that I can usuallyfind.... The sewing tape measures (cloth) tend to stretch over time, so Irarely rely on them. SOMEWHERE I have a Japanese curve ruler (measures lengthof a curved line)-- it's a sewing tool from Clover-- but I think it would begreat to figure out "fit" and design elements for collar type necklaces.KayteeI have found in my purchasing, that beads (and by that I mean glass beads, pearls, semi-precious and silver & even charms) aremeasured first ACROSS, then if they're not the same in all dimensions, the measurement vertically is given. If you look at how Iput measurements in my auctions, you'll see that the first number is the width and the second is the height. For instance, the 9x13Lime fruit beads are 9mm across and 13mm from top to bottom. The 9mm measurement across is made at the widest point, too. Itgenerally doesn't matter how the hole is drilled either - it's *usually* the width, then height. Of course, there's always thosepesky exceptions to keep you on your toes! DONUT BEADS : Sounds like you should do it, Kath. I love the idea of adding theSwarovskis. What do you mean "like anyone would want them" regarding your opinions? Ihave high regard for your judgement.KathyH"Kathy N-V" wrote in message...Wear it against a field of black velvet.~ String bits of rock candy as asteroids (Sooz, sucking on her necklace as shewears it)~~Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap.
