FAITH BEADS : There are only four references to the Rosary in the entire book, and the lastreference is the following:"2708. "Meditation engages thought, imagination, emotion, and desire. Thismobilization of faculties is necessary in order to deepen our convictions offaith, prompt the conversion of our heart, and strengthen our will to followChrist. Christian prayer tries above all to meditate on the mysteries ofChrist, as in lectio divina or the ROSARY. This form of prayerful reflection isof great value, but Christian prayer should go further: to the knowledge of thelove of the Lord Jesus, to union with him. "I don't know a single RC who does that. Not a one. They pray theRosary and begin and end it with "Hail Mary." >>The rosary is shaped like a circle with a tail. The tail is really where theRosary begins, and at the end of it is a Crucifix. That's Jesus, not Mary. The tail looks like this:
FAITH BEADS : Crucifix -- big bead -- three little beads -- big bead -- connection to thecircular part of the Rosary.On the Crucifix at the beginning of the Rosary we pray the Apostle's Creed. The big beads are ALL the Lord's Prayer. The three little beads are HailMary's, usually said as we pray for Faith, Hope and Charity, and the bit ofchain after the last little bead is the place where we say the Doxology: "Glorybe to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in thebeginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."Right after that we announce the First Mystery of the five we are planning tosay and begin the Lord's Prayer. Skipping over the connector (which isnormally a holy medal) we then meditate on the First Mystery as we recite theten Hail Marys that correspond to the ten small beads. After the last smallbead, on the chain we say the Doxology that we said before. That finishes ourfirst meditation.
FAITH BEADS : Then we announce the Second Mystery, say the Our Father, meditate on the secondmystery while reciting the ten Hail Marys and the Doxology, and so on.If your friends are starting and ending the Rosary without either the Lord'sPrayer or the Doxology or particularly the announcement of the Mystery, thenthey aren't saying the Rosary.What you are saying is that there are people who claim to be Catholic who don'tknow what they should believe. No surprise. Aren't there people who claim tobe Christian who don't have the slightest idea about the Bible or faith or thecommandments or salvation? But if they are regular members of a Catholic church and are not what youcalled "theologically initiated" then they are like supposed evangelicals whodon't know their bible. It's not the bible's fault if someone doesn't read it,and it's not the church's fault is someone doesn't listen.
FAITH BEADS : I wanted to share what I made today with one of Faith's lampworked beads. Thebead is really awesome, and I hope that you're able to see the detail of thecrashing wave - it is INCREDIBLE. This was definitely a bead that spoke to me -it makes me feel like I'm back home in California!!! This is a real changefrom Faith's usual figural beads (which are WONDERFUL!!), and I am surely gladthat she made it. And that I was lucky enough to have someone buy it for me!!!Hope you like what I did with it, Faith!! Carol -- the colors in that piece are just wonderful, GREAT JOB!!!Great job, Carol Ann and Faith.
