GLASS BEAD BRACELETS

irish jewelry, charms for charm bracelets, timex watch, prayer beads

GLASS BEAD BRACELETS : this happens to me as well - especially with "difficult" colors - the rest ofthe pile looks fine, but the original beads don't go. I tend to start with anidea of the final form, tho - I know whether I want a lot of 4mm-ish beads, orlarger 8mm ones, rounds or shapes, etc. Lori SousaBriarrose Designshandcrafted jewelry, traditional care, contemporary flairHi VikkiLynn,I've had this problem recently as well...went and took a beadclass from none other than Jeanette Cook, and boy am I inspired!I was blown away by her sculptural peyote work, and am in theprocess of creating my own "attempt" at a necklace. It certainlywill never rival Jeanette's work, but it sure got me out of myslump (which lasted almost a year, partly because I changed jobsand just didn't have the energy left for beadwork). Check the beadshops in your area for classes coming up and see if you can get intoone...especially something you've never tried before!

GLASS BEAD BRACELETS : "Creating Wearable Art from Nature's Finest Offerings"Hi, I had a major beaders block a couple of years ago. I couldn't getinspired for several months. I bought a copy of the Artists Way (Jodie mentioned it). It really didhelp. I think creativity goes in cycles- sometimes nothing works out right andyou can't come up with any ideas, other times you are bursting with themand you can't churn them out fast enough. The bead shops in my area onlyoffer beginner classes. So I rely on beading books and magazines forideas and inspiration.Trying something different is a great idea for inspiration. My favorite beading technique is loomwork. I experimented with peyotestitch but was never comfortable with it. Then I tried a couple ofprojects that I had seen in beading magazine. I thought I would screw upon flat freeform peyote, but after reading Jeanette Cook's "AnythingGoes Earrings" in the Feb. issue of Bead & Button, I tried it andrealized it was easy and fun. It's pretty cool mixing different sizeseed, square and tringle beads together creating this funky lookingearring. From Maxine Perezt Prange's "Links" project in the Winter 200Beadwork I created peyote stitch beaded beads that I mixed with metalbeads and had strung on a neckwire necklace. Leaving your "comfort zone"and doing something different really boosts your creativity. Besides themags. that focus soley on beadwork like Bead & Button amd Beadwork; Ialso read Lapidary Journal. It does contain beadwork, but it's not theonly focus. Looking a jewelry designs that have nothing to do withbeadwork is also inspiring when you look at it from an artistic point ofview. I want to take my beadwork into a different, more experimentaldirection. Try stuff I haven't seen before, so I'm trying to develop my"artist's eye". I've been into photography since I was a little kid andI had classes in film and video production when I was in college, whichI think helps.

GLASS BEAD BRACELETS : Flo, I know we've already talked about this you and I, but I'll talk aboutit with everyone too (since I'm back in poly clay mood and no longer justlurking here, the lone glass beadmaker in a polymer world!)At craft shows, I'm all jewelry. I find that people in Atlanta don'talways care what it's made of or how it was made as long as it's cute andmatches something they own! Sad, but true. For this reason, jewelrysells for me. My earrings are $6-10/pair for very simple earrings...oneslice of cane bead with a little crystal on top...ta-da! (the canes areseasonal faces, santa, bunnies, etc.) Necklaces are good sellers for me. I do long poly clay characters (like earrings) mixed with lots of czechglass. It makes it less cutesy and a little more wearable to use the claywith the glass. I sell the necklaces for $35. I also make very simplependants with large cane slices of the same canes used in above items on arattail satin cord for $10-12 (jingle bell = extra $2!) My poly clay forcraft shows is very simple and not the most artistic out there, but itsells.

GLASS BEAD BRACELETS : What I'm facing now is...how to put this stuff in the same booth that has$290 glass bead bracelets. It's not going to work, I fear!I only do craft fairs during the Christmas season. My best sellers areearrings. I sell them for about $12-$15. I do necklace and earring setsthat range from $40. to $75. I usually sell about 3 or four per show. Ialso have good luck with 'cutesy' figures like santas, snowmen and angels. These sell from $6. for minis to $35. for a larger figure. Another bestsellers are Santa figures. I make the face and hands from polyclay and therest from cloth, fur, etc. These sell from $100. to $200 depending on theintricacy, accessories, etc. But, being the holiday, people tend to spendmore. At my shop in the summer, I sell lots of necklace sets and jewelry.

GLASS BEAD BRACELETS : I may have been to your shop... what is the name of it and where isit?I practically wrote a book as a reply to this post. Mostly aboutmarketing. For some reason my reply totally jamed up my Pc and I've beenspending about the last 4 days tryint to fix it via Tech live and IBM andon and on and on........... It seems I need a new driver for my modem outof the blue.It still isn't fixed and I'm so frustrated! Anyway I'm working on it.Shane, Hurry,hurry,hurry....I love all the responses that have been posted on thissubject so far and would love to hear more. Let me guess though, will your"most popular item" be somewhat related to celestial figures? Naaa :-) . Also, I must send my sincere condolences on your PC jamming up, must haveleft you cursing for days. Flo On Oct 09, 1996 10:03:29 in article , (SHANEANGEL)' wrote:
