I've been using it for thepurses-- it has a nice hard twist, doesn't stretch much, comes in a variety ofcolors, and has a soft sheen. The one I use most is about the size of #10cotton (I think it's size #18 Conso)Use the fancy yarns in tandum with a non-stretchy cord/thread-- hold bothtogether and treat as one strand. KayteeKnit Crocheen is, IIRC a size 10 (otherwise known as bedspread cotton) Youmight try a size 30 crochet cotton. Cebelia is the best - less splitting - butalso the most expensive. GUTERMANN BEADS : I also use a quilting/between needle (Small size)insteadof a beading needle, and thread the thread through so thatit is folded over. 99.9% of the time they go through.p.s.If you want your seed beads to stand up instead offlopping over on their sides try this:Need double strands in the needle, come up,go through bead, go down, come up again in sameplace or very close to, do not go through thebead but put the needle down in the same place(or there abouts) you did the first time. As youare pulling the threads through, separate them andlet one fall on each side of the bead. It forms a"cradle" for the bead and helps it stay upright.Depending on what project and the colors, I useGutermann sewing thread to match the bead or fabric.I run the thread through bees wax and then run the needle and waxed thread through a piece of muslintwice to get rid of the excess beeswax. Anyway... thanks for a great tip. I'vedone lots of beadwork and usually just go through the bead twice. Last week I picked up four of Just Nan's Pink Card designs andbegan stitching the bees/violets one the other day for a breakfrom 50-ct pulled thread project (and computer). When I got tothe beads today I decided to try this trick. The beads on thispiece are the petite size. Worked great! Thanks to whomevermade the post.Does anyone know about the #10 beading-tapestry needles fromNorden Crafts? A *true* friend gave me three out of her stash. Itreasure them. Haven't found a bead yet they won't go through.

I am interested inlearning a better way of attaching beads to projects.Thanks.The way I understand it (and did it on an EGA group correspondence course) you use two strands of thread (floss, whatever) in your needle. You attach the bead with a half-cross and then take another stitch, but instead of passing through the bead again, you railroad your doubled thread around the bead, one strand on each side to both anchor the bead and make it stand up. This method is a bit tedious, and in a cluster of beads, it certainly helps to have long fingernails to hold the threads on either side of each bead as you reinsert your needle into the fabric.
