JEWELRY ARMOIRE : I am building a jewelry armoire with space on each side for hangingnecklaces. My problem is finding a source to buy hardware for the hanging ofthese necklaces. Since I'll need up to 20 of these hooks I would prefer notto spend three plus dollars on each of them. Surely someone is making thehardware you see in use on the units for sale in the stores. I did find a source for those "wheels withhooks" to hang necklaces and chains, but the price was outrageous so Ibought some wooden toy wheels, about 1.5" in dia., bought some brass "L"hooks at Lowes, drilled 6 holes in each wheel on the circumference andscrewed in the "L" hooks. The wheels have a 1/4" hole in the center. Iglued 1/4" dowel material into a 3/4x1" piece of stock and sanded the dowelsto allow the wheels to rotate freely, made them long enough to mount thewheels on the dowels and epoxy glued a pall nut with a nylon washer under itto the end of the dowel. Viola! worked great. Spray painted the wheels agold color, mounted the strip with the 3 wheels already installed to the topof the jewelry cabinet. SWMBO loved it and she hangs a lot of chains. Youcan find wooden wheels at most craft stores. If memory serves, I believe Ifound those brass chain wheels ( or whatever they are called) in the Rocklercatolog and I believe the price was around $15.00 each. I needed 6 of them,The price plus shipping made them more than I paid for the whole project.So I made my own for around $10 for the whole mess of wheels. Look good andwork good. It is gorgeous...by far thenicest piece of jewelry I own, as I am not too much a jewelry person. I likesimple things. I only own 3-4 nice watches, 3-4 nice chains, 2 bracelets, and5-6 rings. All of it is very good quality/genuine pieces, but that's it...I betin 20 years I still won't half fill a jewelry armoire.Other a.f. related gifts include a carload of lotions and shower gels and soapsand spritzes: Bath and Body Works-- a huge basket of cucumber melon goodies,some MORE cucumber melon goodies on the side, a Country Apple gift basketincluding a soap dish, and also a set of Candy Apple. I actually suspect thatmy s.o's relatives are also sending me back some more Bath and Body Works. Andhey, I don't mind-- believe me, I'll use it all up in a few short months time.And also some goodies from the Origins Ginger line-- 2 body creams and the bigbar of soap and the shower wash.
