JEWELRY BRACELETS MALE : *(Others maintain only two were in the tomb -- Tiye and the KV 55 male,presuming the KV 55 remains to be Akhenaten. However, the low age atdeath, 20-25, determined by J. E. Harrison's forensic review of theremains in 1966, casts heavy doubt the remains are those of Akhenaten --who enjoyed a recorded 17-year reign and fathered 6 daughters in hislifetime. Debate continues.)No jewelry that was complete, except for the vulture sheet pectoral andpossibly the reconstructed necklace [in fact, these were the only twopieces of jewelry on the body mentioned by Davis himself (p. 15, citebelow)]. The remaining amount of jewelry found was mostly loose smallbeads/ornaments, none of the expected amount which would be anticipatedfor a royal burial, and no ritual jewelry left for the protection of thebody (heart scarab, other prescribed amulet collars, etc.). EvenDaressy could only speculate as to what items the finds belonged priorto their removal.

JEWELRY BRACELETS MALE : Edward Ayrton, also present at the discovery of the KV 55 remains, notedsome "three broad bracelets of thin gold of a fragile nature" on boththe right and left arms. There have been several theories regardingthese "bracelets." Daressy does not note these as jewelry on the mummy,and it has been theorized by some that Ayrton mistook the so-called"gold bands" of the mummy (see: h) as the remaining example) forbracelets. Ayrton had noted these bands in an earlier comment as beingso fragile and moisture-affected they "crumbled to the touch." As such,it is likely these "bracelets" were of the same nature, and lost inremoval or by modern thieves (see both Reeves' and Bell's comments onthe matter (as cited below)).Ayrton also noted that "no rings or other jewellery were found with themummy." (p. 21)

Reeves seems to think the head was separated from thebody as an act of desecration; Bell, OTOH, felts the head was separatedwhen its mask was removed from the mummy (she argues one must have beenpresent), which again implies intentional desecration of the body toremove its identity for magical/afterlife purposes. (Bell argues theintruders in the tomb were NOT ordinary robbers, but ritual desecrators,due to the amount of gold and other semi-precious stone left in thetomb).I. I. Perepelkin was able to show rather conclusively in 1967 that thetitulary phraseology found on the coffin was originally Kiya's. So, thecoffin was originally hers, as likely were the canopic jars also foundin the tomb. This is noted in _Akhenaten, King of Egypt_ (1988).

Not quite irrelevant, but evidence of intentionaldesecration. Nicholas Reeves himself covers the extent of thisdesecration, as he also calls it, in his 1990 foreword to the _Tomb ofQueen Tiyi_ reprint, in pp. XII -XIII, and in his _Valley of the Kings_Z(KPI: London, 1990), p. 44.
