For those of you getting lost here=20... just a quick addendum to let you know I am only speaking ofjewelry ... and absolutely nothing else.
JEWELRY BROOCH : Our Frog brooch is modeled in wood ... it has gold plated metal eyes... and it rests in a grassy nest of green Bakelite. It resides todayin an unknown-to-me private collection in New York. It's a powerfullooking creature ... and I think I'll name him Thor. So ... you guyswanna see Thor ... hmmm?For those of you who are new to this thing called Tidbits...may Idirect you to my home page at where you will scrolldown the left side menu till you get to the area that says TidbitsYou know, Benjamin, I really do (occasionally) enjoy some of the things you find for TIDBITS. But do you have to make us all swim acrossrivers of purple prose and hyperbolicjocularity to get to the actual information -- at the end ofwhich we have to scroll down your page instead of getting adirect link to the picture?

When we get to thepicture, there could be a (reasonably short) description of it,and a link to your home page if you wish?Would you please, in short, get - to - the - point?Even modern children's books have ways of doing it withoutwasting too much of anybody's time.While I've occasionally wished Ben would post the direct link to the TidbitsGraphic, rather than the link to his web page as a whole, it's a minor detail. As to his long text stuff, what the heck to you think we allow his posts in herefor? If it weren't for all that wonderfully creative and whacky prose, hisposts might be construed as just a commercial ad enticing people to his website, and as we all (I hope) know, this non-commercial newsgroup doesn't allowmost commercial ads. Without his stories, I couldn't allow the posts, no matterwhat the link type. And I think half the fun of his posts is trying to guess,before getting to that part, just what the heck he's describing. Kinda like agood short mystery story.
JEWELRY BROOCH : And there's something too, to be said for tradition. Ben's been writing thesethings for longer than I've been reading this group, longer even that it's beenmoderated. I sure don't want to be the one to rock such a traditional boat.My suggestion: Save Ben's Tidbits for the end of the day when you need arelaxing lighter note to grin over. Check the link if you want, or don't. Theprose is unique. sometimes his objects are too, but then we're all jewelers,and we've all seen lots of unique jewelery, so often you don't even need tocheck the link to enjoy the prose (though I usually do).If you don't want to bother with the prose, then just bookmark his web page, andcheck the graphic weekly without bothering to read about it.
JEWELRY BROOCH : Remember that this group is for discussion and sharing of ideas and thoughts andinfo, not advertising. the info need not always be technical. It can be funand whimsical too. For those who wonder how to occasionally get a veiled advertisement for your website into this group, then look at Tidbits. Ben's got it figured. If you too,do something original and creative in writing, either factual or inventive, thatpeople will enjoy reading, and happen to post a link to some related item onyour web page as part of it, but not the bulk of it, then you too can beregularly included in the group's weekly readings... It need not be tidbits,or whimsical. it can be discussion of a jewelry related nature, of any realsort. remember that in general, you're talking to fellow jewelers, or hobbyistsand amateurs with a bit more jewelery knowledge than the general overall public,so don't talk down to the group too much.
