Can I subscribe yet? :-) One thought:- what about step-by-step illustrated how-to-do itarticles on different techniques with polymer clay? (I mean as well asdividing things into types of things made?) I have to suggest this one- it is how I earn my living, writing and illustrating how-to-do-itbooks and magazine articles! You have already mentioned simple caningbut there is so much else: metallic techniques, paints and polymer clay,using polymer to make moulds, stamping polymer clay, different mosaicmethods, polymer clay flowers, leather techniques... etc etc. A lot of these are going to come out in my book and have noteven been touched on in the literature so far. And I am sure manyartists are finding new things all the time - perhaps they will shareideas? A recent example is City Zen Cane's ikat technique in Ornament. Fingers crossed it will take off!

And of course this would lead into a discussion of color blending for poly-clay ~.
JEWELRY PENDANTS : I was at one of those ubiquitous street fairs and saw one of those guysworking a torch making those "cute little animals" . I admit that thosethings are not my cup o art........but hey they sell right?Anyway I had always thought they were made from pyrex rod and that thecolors were colored rod. But the guy tells me the colors are simply stainspainted on the outside of the glass.So........what are these stains...who makes em, are they COEdependent....can they be fired too...covered with clear??Any info or web sites will make you eligible for one karma point..When they make and sell these on the spot, they obviously aren't annealed.So do these just shatter after awhile?Marrrrrrk wrote in message ...They are usually "rough annealed" by slowing their cool-down with somegentle use of the flame. JEWELRY PENDANTS : There have been colorants for torch workers for years-they are painted on BUTthey wear with time and look fake. Using the colored rods add a much richerdimention to the work-well worth the expense .pcglassSo........what are these stains...who makes em, are they COEdependent....can they be fired too...covered with clear??fire them and they will burn off.I worked with a "spun glass" lampworker for years and still have many piecesthat were not "annealed" Pyrex is more stable than soft glass and can be "flameannealed"There ARE colored borosilicate rods - called NORTHSTAR borosilicate. I usethese in my glass jewelry pendants. The colors are a very muted pallettehowever - not bright colors like the stains. Also - the glass runs about $50a POUND so it is not very economical for street fair lampwork.....youu can see the colors of these in my pendants at
