LEATHER BRACELETS : On a number of occasions my husband has tied me up using ropes with the idea that I would remain tied to the bed through-out the night. So farit has been a dismal failure as I generally wake up around 2 a.m. withterrible cramps in my arms or my arms are very very asleep...nasty pinsand needles!...so he always ends up having to untie me. Rope bondage is inherently tight, because it can't be secure if it's loose, but sleeping comfortably requires (in my experience, and yours seems to agree) some freedom of movement. So for overnight bondage, i would always recommend using leather wrist and ankle cuffs, or perhaps steel cuffs if they're thick and rounded enough, joined by chains. There are many ways to attach a bottom to a bed with chains for the night. One simple approach is to lock a long chain to anchors at the head and foot of the bed, then cuff the bottom's hands and feet together (that is, hands to hands and feet to feet) *around* the long chain. That way, he or she will be able to move around quite a bit and yet be quite unable to get out of the bed. It is even possible to use the same arrangement with ropes. Though it wouldn't be as secure as with chains and locks, it would be a lot more comfortable than trying to tie the limbs directly to the bed.

On the feet I use a pair of ankle cuffs and with extralinks and a padlock. One note about cuffs, you can get a better fit that will protect yourwrists by taking an athletic sock and cutting off the foot. Fold thesock cuff to a double thickness and slip it over your hand. Put the handcuff on over that and snug it down good. This can also be used underropes, if necessary.
LEATHER BRACELETS : Just a few quick toughts on this: We wouldn't use rope.For long-term bondage we found rope either too tight or too insecure. (And bondage we can escape from is a definite turn-off for both of us.) We'd go for lockable leather cuffs,preferably thick padded leather cuffs.If you want to use metallic handcuffs or leg irons you'vegot to make sure you don't get injured. The edges of eventhe best handcuffs (such as the heavy Clejusos with theirrounded edges) are too hard for comfort, and there's a very real danger of permanent damage to nerve endingsin the wrists or to the achilles tendon. You can make handcuffs and legirons much safer by usingpadded leather bracelets that go round the wrists and anklesfirst. Ours are made of thick leather and lined with very softleather. Neoprene lining also works very well. They have twostrips of leather with a space of about half an inch between them. The handcuffs go between the two strips and can't slide off thebracelets, even if the bottom struggles a lot.This really makes using handcuffs a lot safer - and you still have thesecurity well-made handcuffs provide. It's also a lot more comfortablethan using handcuffs on their own.
LEATHER BRACELETS : Last point: We wouldn't use chains if at all possible. We find chainsmake too much noise when moving about at night. We use the nylonwebbing used in mountaineering with some stainless steel rings sewnin. They are unbreakable and much nicer than chains. If you do want touse chains go for thin chains. They make much less noise. You can gethigh quality stainless steel chains in maritime shops. Stainless steel is much tougher than "normal" steel, so you don't need thick chains, andwe find stainless generally much, much nicer. They aren't cheap, though.When my Master secures me to his bed at night, he affixes a heavychain to my collar. It's cold and heavy and noisy and inconvenient and*wonderful*. When he does that, it's not meant to immobilize me, butto keep me there, and to keep me aware of who and what I am.

It's very real and assuring.If you really have a problem with clanking chains disturbing your sleep, you can take nylon tubing used for climbing - comes in a variety of widths - and thread the chain through the tubing.
