MEDIC ALERT BRACELETS : As a teenager, which is more years ago than I care to remember, a particular radio programme overhere in the land of the Whinging Pom broadcast the song for three Sundays in a row:-))) Loved thesong, but couldn't remember all the words!:-) That song made me laugh and laugh! All down theyears, that song would occasionally come back to me. Yes, I *know* I am quite, quite mad:-))))I've got the whole song, if you want it. It might be more discreet if I emailed it to you.SuzieMelbourne, AustraliaThere are three crowns: the crown of Torah, the crown of priesthood and the crown of royalty; but the crown of a good name exceeds them all. Pirke Avot 4:19. Please, please, please, please:-)))))))))))))))))))))))))Thank you, thank you, thank you:-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))Hey - no fair; you gotta share with the rest of us...there are more around thannot that had heard part of that old ditty...
MEDIC ALERT BRACELETS : Lala la la lala lalala la la lala lalalala la la lala lalala la la lala lala...I've got a Medic Alert necklace because of my potentially fatal allergies toaspirin, NSAID's and penicillin. I went with that organization because theallergist who diagnosed me said it was the best way to go. They ask for allsorts of information--doctor, contact person, hospitals, etc. I've neverthought to put that I was a migraine sufferer on it. It's something toconsider. It only costs $15 a year after the initial fee of $50 I believe.I've never had to use it, fortunately, but it's good to know it's there. On the other hand, my husband, Chuck, had a weird experience with one of the"international" medical alert bracelets. He is an insulin-dependent diabeticand he spent a summer in Yugoslavia in 1978. He was in a bar in southernYugoslavia not far from Albania. He had a sudden insulin reaction and sort ofblacked out. He tried asking for help and a HUGE guy punched him out. Afterthe police were called, they discovered his bracelet. The guy who deckedChuck apologized, shook his hand and bought him a coke. It didn't work toowell at first, but the bracelet ultimately kept Chuck out of jail! :) MEDIC ALERT BRACELETS : I think things must have changed then Molli. My Dad just got one forChristmas from my Mom and I can't imagine the drug that was put on it wason the standard form. It is a commonly used muscle relaxant given priorto surgery to stop the lungs from breathing so they can bag you. Hedidn't come out of it and had to be on a ventilator for many hours beforethey pulled him out of it. And of course nobody told my Mom or me abloody thing about why he wasn't coming out of recovery, just let usworry for hours on end. Anyway, I don't know the name of it, but that'sthe drug that had to be put on the bracelet and all of us kids have lettersfor the anaesthesiologist should we ever require surgery that we are notto be given that drug. MEDIC ALERT BRACELETS : I think that is a great idea to have the bracelet. I know that even if Ican communicate I very often fog my medications. I rely on my husband'sbrain to remember them for me. Thank you for the great suggestion!Just to make you feel better, I too trip over everything, think I amwalking around a corner and instead walk into it. I have so many bruiseson my body my boyfriend thinks that people are going to think he beats me.alexandra bsayThe reason they would be needed is in case one of us is in an accident andthey need to administer medicine. I am on 5 medicines at the least at atime and the idea of no one knowing that in case of an emergency is scary.alexandraThe fact remains that we could still have drug allergies or take drugs thatcould cause a reaction. As a diabetic, it's important for me to let apolice officer/EMS personnel know this. I don't think I want to get hauledin for a DUI when I'm actually having an insulin reaction. I've seen thishappen and it's not laughable!!! MEDIC ALERT BRACELETS : We also take a variety of drugs and if we are unable to tellmedical/hospital personnel what drugs we take, interactions could be fatal!!...Ride on over all obstacles, and win the race - Charles DickensActually some of my incidents are the kinds of things you usually onlysee in slap-stick comedies. I think Chevy Chase has been watching me foryears. Here's another one to laugh about:I was visiting the Gateway Arch in St. Louis with friends. Walking downthe hill with friends I had turned around to talk with my friend and waswalking down the hill backwards. A friend shouted "Look OUT" I turnedaround and walked into a trash can. Somehow, I lost my balance and wentinto the can headfirst. The can fell over and rolled down to the bottomof the hill with me inside. People came running from all over. I justtold them to go away until after dark. 8))
