MENS EARRINGS : Since you've responded to this in talk.religion.misc I would imagine that you might be aware that MANY religious *male* figures (over the centuries) wore earrings (and other jewels).This reminds me of the wearing of skirts too. Centuries ago, the skirt was also a male attire. You see, some people cannot see beyond their narrow context of "thinking," and experience the whole of life and history.Is there anything inherently male or female about a certain piece of metal? Things become what groups of people attribute to them. By the way, do you wear pants?And *why* on this green earth must women wear hose to work, all yearround? I remember seeing a news blurb about it which said that Europeansthink we're crazy for having such a social standard.
MENS EARRINGS : Meanwhile, women in the work force - white collar, mostly - are expectedto wear skirts - what does that say about sexism in the work place? Keepwomen intheir place, make them dress female.As long as people wear clean clothes which are not breaking the law, I don't see why corporate-types need to control all those other things like earrings, pantyhose and neckties. It will keep going on this way until people stand up for their rights, and tell those people that they do not own their employees (who do a service for THEM). [BTW, I think the necktie was probably some type of ancient phallic symbol(?)]What "mankind" lacks on the inward, "mankind" attempts to make up for on the outward. Many narrow-minded individuals in various businesses feel the need to wear certain types of cloth to make them important. Perhaps on the inward they are not, and need to put on the costume(?)
MENS EARRINGS : A lot that has to do with dress come from misguided and foolish religious ideas that do not even have anything to back them up.It is so silly that people still quote a passage of the Bible that reads that women should not wear mens clothes. I guess these modern Bible-whippers do not understand that men wore skirts back then . . . [It reminds me of women who were killed because they did not produce a male child. Now, we know that it is the male that determines the sex of the child. Oh, but that is another story that reveals the ignorance of the control-mongers].What is it with these people that have to have tablets of stone and control over everything? This reminds me of religious colleges that do not even let their students have beards, even though Jesus (et al) had one himself. In America, they pose a lot of restrictions on those that come from other cultures too.
MENS EARRINGS : So many people live in a narrow little world with limited bounds of thinking. They do not explore or step out to experience anything outside of their bars and fences. These are the people that will let a generation keep them from wearing a certain color of cloth, because some say that it is exclusively a male or female color. Ethnocentricity plays a large part too.Women in Europe have little trouble with armpit or leg hair (a natural occurance by the way), but there are many in America that would classify this hair growth as unwomanly (or some other misdirected attribute).There is so much to say on this topic.
