MENS WEDDING RINGS : The thrid set of wedding bands is a simple engraved Celtic knot on a plaingold band.My engagement ring is similar to the size of a large (or mens) weddingband. (Lucky for me I have HUGE hands!) It has a repeating pattern of twooverlapping heart shaped ivy leaves all connected by a running branch. Inthe front the leaves approach on each side of the 'emerald cut' green garnetwe chose. On the back the branches overlap in an X. All of the rings(except the engraved bands) have an inset background, where the design is atthe height of the ring, and the background is inset. Mine has a solid ridgearound the top & bottom. The stone is set so it can be seen through fromthe back and is slightly above & below the ring itself. It has asurrounding setting.
MENS WEDDING RINGS : It's huge! :) I certainly won't be wearing it & a wedding band on the samehand. But that was very much a factor of not realizing how large the stonewas, and how wide & deep the ring had to be to contain the stone we chose.I'm not a jewelery person, but having gotten engaged, an engagement ringseemed appropriate. Shane does not like diamond rings, and has an affectionfor emerald (or so he thought). So... off we went with an ideal of a leafpattern on the band with a lovely green emerald. What we found was that thecolour we all believe is emerald is really quite rare in the stone, usuallyit has a much more blue or yellow cast to it. The lovely green ones areavailable, but at tremendous cost. So... we asked about this other greenstone in the case. It was lovely... just the right colour, but way tolarge. So Judy (the designer) went on a hunt & found another, slightlysmaller green garnet. And at MUCH less cost. The weight of gold in theband actually acounted for around 2/3rds of the cost.

We spent almost an hour looking atthe albums ofcustom designs last Saturday (thanks to the Budgie they have which ourtoddler found very entertaining). My sister buys tons of jewelery there,so we thought we should include it in our search for the perfect weddingrings. We saw lots of beautiful rings and I fell in love with one set. Unfortunately we can't afford to have our rings made there unlesswe win the lotto. :(
MENS WEDDING RINGS : I am in the market for a quality platinum mens wedding band. I've readfrom some of the experts, and appreciate you folks posting on here.Some questions I have are what should I ask jewelers to ensure I'mgetting the best quality material and craftsmanship?My jeweler mentioned his platinum is "lighter" than most because iscontains more platinum and less of other metals used in lesser qualityrings. MENS WEDDING RINGS : The kicker to your jewelers statement is that platinum is denser than those lesscostly metals that may be alloyed with platinum. So if his platinum isactually lighter, then something is very very wrong here. My guess is that it'snot his platinum that's wrong, but rather his understanding of platinum.for quality issues, it depends a lot on what design your looking for. If youwant just a plain unadorned band, then almost any commercially die struck bandwill be fine quality. Die struck pieces are a bit denser (less porosity in themetal) and harder, and thus more durable, than cast metal. but about all youcan get that's made this way are plain traditional half round, flat, comfortfit, and millgrain edged wedding bands. Some may also have been "diamond cut"with various machined in patterns.
