O RINGS : I'm getting ready for Idaho right. Well I pull off my pipe to get afew small dents removed so that it will be primed for a big Idahorock. I just replaced the o-rings that the seal the pipe at thecylinder. I bought the FMF package of 2 o-rings because it wasavailable at the Honda shop up the road and I was getting ready toride the next day. I didn't have time to search for o-ringselsewhere. Well the bike has about 4 hours on it since and theseo-rings are melted flat. They no longer seal. Anyway, I know thereis there a better alternative. When I worked at Texas Instruments, Iwas able to get some really good o-rings from a huge drawer of o-ringsno longer used in any tools. Free stock. I found some that were theright size and were blue in color. They kicked ass. I used my last 2on my YZ250.
O RINGS : So whats the best bet. More o-rings? Maybe stock Honda o-rings.Maybe some from Napa. I've alsoseen "high temp" o-rings used in refrigeration that were the samecolor, but all I could find at an auto supply were too small. O RINGS : I have wrapped plumbing teflon tape around the exhaust spigot, forminga large wad, and stuffed the pipe on. Works especially good on wornpipe/spigot junctions or slightly bent head pipes when "O" rings won'twork at all. Greg P.My method is to allow the spooge to seep out at the cylinder head,and any joints and forget about any o-rings or sealant. That waythe power valve won't get all clogged up because the spooge is onthe outside of the engine and not on the inside.Mike, The local big city has a couple Seal and Supply companies. I foundthem in the yellow pages under seals-oring. If you find a place, askthem for the best heat and hydrocarbon resistance. I believe I boughtthe viton type for 10 or 15 cents a piece. The KalRes was a buck ortwo each and had a long lead time. Be prepared; however, for themlaughing when you say you only need 50 or 60. They deal in 100's at ashot.
O RINGS : Where can I find non urethane O rings for my slide check? It is a tomco seriesNFLOW. can't seem to find the manufacturer.I buy all my o-rings at Lowes and Home Depot...they cost about $0.25 eachand you'll have to take your part/old o-ring into the store to compare thesize.
