SEIKO DIVE WATCHES : I have an Aqualand as well, for 5 years, gone through 2 battery changesso far and no trouble what so ever. The digital display is visible forme in quite murky waters as well. I'm very satisfied with it.Although I just got certified, I have had a Seiko dive watch (quartz model)for about 6 years. I got it because 1) I eat watches, and 2) I do a lot ofcanoeing, and other watersports. It has been extremly reliable and has onlyhad the battery replaced once (I JUST had it done this year). I originallybought it at a store where they give free lifetime battery replacement (thatdoes, by the way, include replacement of the seals), so I think I got a reallygood deal. I think at the time, it cost just about $200.00. Actually, theyalso have a wind-up version (automatic winder) for less. All I can say isI LOVE MY SEIKO!

SEIKO DIVE WATCHES : From: ()Subject: Re: Dive Watches Newsgroups: bit.listserv.scuba-lDate: 1992-03-21 03:13:04 PST Concerning watch reliability, I have a Texas Instruments LCD watch Ibought about 15 years ago, when digital watches were still in theirinfancy. I think I paid about $50 for it; it has all the functionalityof todays $5 cheapies (time and date; no alarm, stopwatch, etc.) I'venever taken it to any great depth, but about 7 years ago it did spendseveral months on the bottom of a lake. It was right at the edge, probably about 5 feet deep. It was found at the end of the summer whenthe Corps of Engineers began lowering the lake to its winter depth. Itstill had the correct time when it was found.I don't know if it would survive at depth, but it's a great watch towear when I want one that will survive getting knocked around, splashed, run over, stepped on by a horse, etc..I've broken the band on it severaltimes, but the watch itself appears indestructible.

SEIKO DIVE WATCHES : One more vote for the Casio G-shock. Cheap, and they work. Theyappear on the list of equipment blessed by the US Navy for use by theirdivers. Before G-shock, that entry was Rolex.....I thought I'd throw my two cents worth into the Great Watch Controversyof 1992.I just bought a watch while in St. Maarten last month. It is a Seikorated to 150 meters and is just called the "Scuba Diver's" watch. Itis an automatic (self-winding) watch with a rubber wrist strap, rotating two-color bezel, lock-down crown, and date display. The watchis analog (which I prefer) and seems to be built like my dear departedgrandma's farm outhouse (very well!). The only real complaint I haveis that it doesn't glow in the dark brightly enough to suit me - thenagain, they probably don't want to dose their customers with largeamounts of radium 8-). I paid $135 for it there but here in the Statesit seems to go for about $250.

SEIKO DIVE WATCHES : At the time I bought this watch I was not yet diving, but I wanteda watch which: a) was waterproof so I could go skiing with it andb) was more-or-less indestructable because I beat the outof watches. I'm quite happy on both counts. It is basic, tough, and keeps good time. It has even managed to remain watertight in thedeep (12') training dives in the local pool 8-).BTW - does anybody know how to determine if a watch is a "real" or"fake" Seiko? Used to be that only Rolex got knocked off, now itseems Seiko too is a victim.Someday, when I get past the guilt of it all (and knock off abank or two) I'd like to buy a Rolex Submariner - they are mightypurty....---------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- "Tundra" Tim Daneliuk PREFERRED: OR (Yuk!): ALSO: ...uunet!gargoyle.uchicago.edu!clout!esk imo!tundra US SNAIL: 4927 N. SEIKO DIVE WATCHES : Two, one to change the bulb and one to complain bitterly about the plight of the socket."---------------------------------------- --------------------------------------I've been using two different Casio 50M watches for dive duty forseveral years, including using the stopwatch at 110 fsw.The US Navy used to have only one watch on the approved list, the RolexOyster. Now they approve the Casio G-Shock too. (200M version)I'd just like to say that I have a Tag Heuer and I love it.However, for the same price, I could have bought a dive computer, or about8 G-Shocks, or about 15 cheaper casios waterproof to 100 m. Looking back, Iknow what I would buy now!I was told a few years ago that casios water proof to only 50m are notsuitable for diving as you cannot push the buttons under water, you musthave one that is waterproof to at least 100m. Casio now make watches thatgo down to 300m.
