SEIKO WATCH : Looks like the original poster posted pictures of the watch he'sasking about on his (company's) web site, that's all.On Mon, 31 Dec 2001 10:55:07 GMT, women fainted and men gasped when (Hi Everyone !) casually remarked:maybe it's just the light but the top picture and the bottom picturedo not look like the same watch. The bottom picture obviously hasthe Seiko logo on the watch face, the top picture, which is a straighton shot, does not. I have yet to see any Seiko watch that does notidentify itself as a Seiko. The name on the box in the bottom picture says SETKO not SEIKO. Lookslike someone is trying to do a take off on the Seiko name with asimilar looking logo.On Mon, 24 Dec 2001 11:01:07 GMT, (Me Looking ForAnswers) wrote:

SEIKO WATCH : I got the following from the Indian Skeptics site, its very interestingreading:First Jaico Imppression 1976, Published by: Jaico Press Pvt. Ltd., 121 MahatmaGandhi Road, Bombay, Chapter 3During my visit to Madras in 1972 to appear in my own role in the film"Punarjanmam", I was invited to give a lecture at the Indian Institute ofTechnology at Guindy. During a conversation before the lecture one of theprofessors at the institute told me that the majority of youths who take tothe study of science and technology do so not because they have anyscientific attitude or aptitude, but just because such a course helps them toget lucrative jobs. The reason why some of the eminent scientists of Indiahave given up their science, and become "devotees" of Godmen of that countrywas because they have found that they can make more money by being incollusive devotion to such hoaxers than by continuing scientific pursuits.

SEIKO WATCH : A few months ago the editor of a mass-circulating weekly of India wrote me aletter saying that the Editorial Board of his weekly has decided to publish asymposium on "SATHYA SAI BABA - IS HE AN INCARNATION OF GOD OR A CHARLATAN?",and wanted me to be the first contributor to the series. My article was serialised in three issues. It was then followed by twoarticles countering my thesis by Dr. S.Bhagavantham, M.Sc., D.Sc., Ph.D., aformer scientific adviser to the Government of India.Dr. Bhagavantham started his article by saying that in his youth he was arationalist like me, but after witnessing some of the 'miracles' of BhagawanSathya Sai Baba,he had to give up his rationalism! He then continued to describe numerous 'miracles' said to have been performedby Sathya Sai Baba at various times in various places. There was absolutelyno mention in the two articles of any one having conducted investigations toestablish that they were all genuine miracles, and not conjurer's tricks. Thetwo articles appeared to be clear examples of how unscientific even a goodscientist can become if he is a victim of religio-maniacal neurosis oravarise for lucre!

SEIKO WATCH : In the whole lot of the miracle stories mentioned by Dr. Bhagavantham, therewas only one that was amenable to investigation. I quote below that story:"The wonderful experience, some years ago, of a world-famous watchAside from the obvious signs of fraud, which even the believer in the supernatural should be able to see, what really causes one to shake one's head is that someone who wants to be known as the son of God incarnate demonstrates his divinity by pulling watches out of the air. Anyone who has seen a good conjurer, or a masterful one like David Copperfield will simply not be impressed. More important, though, is that this kind of "demonstration" even if it were authentic is petty and out of proportion to the divinity it is supposed to be a manifestation of. A third rate devil might demonstrate his powers to the masses by producing trinkets out of the air. A true divine being would not produce material things at all, but if Sai Babba thinks this kind of manifestation is the way to prove his powers to the credulous, let him produce the Star of India or another gem even greater and more perfect. But the seeker after spiritual leadership should be suspicious of such demonstrations from the beginning.

SEIKO WATCH : If you see Baba cheating in movies, you will have lots of respect forCoperfield. He is a lousy magician. If you ask Baba to make something big, like a chair or a tree, he will saythat he doesn't want to mess around with the elements of nature. He has saidthat before. Or he might say that he will not do it if he is being tested, hewill do it if he thinks that the miracle will make the person witnessing themiracle to wonder about God, or he might say... He will talk and come upwith a reason, reasons that are not any good to a rational mind, but they arevery reasonable for someone who really believes that Baba is God.Here are 3 reasons -- that I know about, there might be more -- Baba hasgiven for "creating" things. (1) He "creates" things out of nowhere so thatif the person wearing this piece of jewlery is in trouble, that jewlery willsend a signal to Baba and Baba will rush for help. :o) Honestly, thats whatBaba said. Its like a F-16 signaling for help, how simple minded are somepeople. Isn't Baba supposed to be God? Doesn't he say that he knowseverything before it happens? Doesn't he say that he is everywhere at alltimes, always aware of everything? Then why the stupid story? (2) Baba alsosays that he "creates" the jewlery so that people will think about thesupernatural. As if the very mention of the word supernatural to someonewill not suffice. Instead of putting on a show, Baba could simply say theword "supernatural" and the listener would think about it. (3) Baba also
