STERLING SILVER RINGS : I'd be careful about using lacquer thinner. Alot of the timemarcasites(sp?) are glued in, sometimes cz's also. You could cause them to fallout. Since they are cheap rings, if you want a cheap, easy way to antique them(that works pretty well) buy some flat black testors enamel model airplanepaint. Apply it with the end of a toothpick in the areas you want antiqued andthem rub off the excess. Sometimes its a little easier if you let it dry for aminute first before wiping off the excess. The correct (but harder) way would be to use liver of sulfer or let ittarnish naturally.Guystie wrote in message ...Dont worry the rings are not ruined. A photocopy of the rings is attached hereto along withmy credit card statement showing the date these items wereordered and charged to my account. When these items were ordered,I was confined to bed where I remained for six months becauseof a shattered left ankle, a shattered right kneecap and twobreaks in the femur. This is mentioned only so that you know Iwas not out dancing and wearing the rings referred to above.I began taking work again in January, 1998 and still had notworn the rings which are the subject of this letter. I spentthe month of April, 1998 in California with my mother who hadjust had major surgery and the rings had yet to be worn. Ireturned home May lst and sometime between then and the endof June, just the ring guards were worn possibly three times.The ring guards with a four carat marquise diamond werespectacular!
STERLING SILVER RINGS : Around the end of June, I wore the ring guards and upon returninghome I bathed and then discovered that I had not removed myrings prior to bathing as I usually do. Since the rings weresubjected to soap scum which would dull their shine, I put themin jewelry cleaner. I had dinner and came back later in theevening to clean the rings. Imagine my shock and displeasureto find that the sterling silver was discolored and just plainugly-looking. In one spot, it actually has a pink cast.On July 6th, I finally found time to contact HSN. I was advisedto return the rings and told that I would receive a credit.I ordered another set of the same rings on July 6,1998 whichwere received and billed on my July credit card statement.The defective rings were returned by insured mail to HSN onJuly 7, 1998.
STERLING SILVER RINGS : When my August credit card invoice was received there was nocredit from HSN thereon. I called HSN and then I waited andwaited and waited for someone to help me. The operator statedthat the order number for the rings would not come up on hercomputer and gave me another number to call. Call I did butreached a recording. My name and phone number was left alongwith the information that I would be available between 9:00and l0:00 a.m. the next morning. No one contacted me duringthis time. Before leaving home for the day, I placed a call toHSN. I spoke with Camille who requested that I fax a copy ofthe insurance receipt to her. Camille advised that she wouldlook into the matter and get back to me. When I returned homethat evening there was a message on the answering machinestating that the merchandise was over a year old and, therefore,I would not be receiving a credit.
