TURQUOISE EARRINGS : I went to one of the libraries in the group that I used to work today. I had to return a book on washing/drying machines. When I fetched the book I left them looking at the pages Valerie set up for me. They said bring your beadwork for us to see in real life. So I did.Before I went I knocked up two pairs of earrings. One with turquoise, Bali silver, vintage and Swarovski crystals and SS findings.The others had Chinese jade in place of the turquoise.When I got there I unpacked my case like a travelling salesman. I had the things that I wanted to sell and my own personal bits and bobs.The assistant in charge whipped up the turquoise earrings and promptly gave me. a tenner for them. Then she put them in her ears after carefully spraying her hair way back. She hung her nose over the bracelet in my set.I said I could make her one.
TURQUOISE EARRINGS : The other assistant grabbed the bracelet I made with the bead soup left from my seascape tassel. She fell in love with it. I had not intended selling it but it looked far better on a younger arm than mine. She made me an offer I could not refuse. So I took it. Off she went into the library to serve people wearing her new bracelet.She also admired my nine patch bracelet but I would not part with that one since it has memories of Malvern Quilt show. (Diane even Moira wanted to buy that).I will consider making her one soon.Regards the washing machine. It would wash but not dry. DH thought he was clever enough to mend it, but anything electronic is not his forte.Well since he has looked at it will neither wash or dry. In total he as buggered it up all together.I had made sure that all my clothes had been washed before he started on it. So now I tell him that all the clothes in the laundry bin are his and will not get washed until he gets me a new machine. Oh my, oh my!.

TURQUOISE EARRINGS : I have a couple of pairs of earrings with turquoise in them: one pair has four quarter-circle pieces of turquoise; the other has turquoise and coral in them. I have been keeping them, as well as my good earrings, in plastic containers with dividers. I don't wear these earrings very often; I mostly think of them in summer, and don't have a lot of clothes to go with them. They are actually souvenirs from trips to the beautiful American Southwest.Recently, I discovered that the four pieces of turquoise in the one pair of earrings are three different colours now; one piece in each earring is actually green! In the other pair, both the coral and turquoise are darker than they used to be.I suspect that the stones have absorbed something from the plastic on which they were resting. The coral and turquoise pair have darkened evenly, I think because they tend to fall face down & are thus fully exposed to the plastic.
TURQUOISE EARRINGS : I happened to have a bead book out of the library, and it shows some faded beads which are actually turquoise, but now look mostly the colour of sand, with faint traces of turquoise. The book says the beads were buried, and that turquoise, coral, and pearl are porous. I had thought myself very clever keeping my earrings in divided containers (the good earrings were in an 8-day plastic pill box with individual lids) - so handy for keeping earring mates together, and keeping chains from tangling together. Turns out to have not been so great after all.I'm trying to reverse the damage by keeping the all-turquoise earrings partly in water - no change so far, but it's been only a few days now.
