WATCHES CITIZEN WATCH : If you have a Citizen watch "rated" for 100m and you send it intoCitizen telling you flooded it while scuba diving, they have absolutelyno obligation to give you another watch. It clearly states in theirinstructions that the watch is not intended for scuba diving.Having said all that, many people here, including me, have noticed thatwatches not intended for scuba diving do perfectly well as a divewatch. I have a Citizen watch intended for sailboat racing. It's ratedfor 100m, and it's been to 110 fsw. However, I made sure not to pushany of the buttons at depth. Also, I should point out that Citizen hasbeen very good, in my experience, in standing behind their watches.That same watch failed about a year ago (it wouldn't go into all themodes properly, and stopped keeping accurate time), and they repairedit under warranty (replaced the entire mechanism) without any question.
WATCHES CITIZEN WATCH : Since I'm in the market for a new watch, I figured I'd get a Citizen since they are so kind to my sport... Get a Timex (the yachting one with the great big red buttonon the face) and save a whole lot of money.The Citizen I have has a light so faint you can't see the numbers in thedark, much less having to go through contortions to use it.Trust me on this one. Get the $75 Timex instead of the $200+ Citizen. No way do not buy the Timex yachting watch. I went through four or five of them before I finally got one that didn't stop working after 6 months. Everyone that I know had the same problem. I just got the Citizen yachting and it is real nice. The jewerly stores sell it for $325,but I was lucky enough to find it on closeout at a department store for $69! I should have bought the inventory and sold them.
WATCHES CITIZEN WATCH : I went through several Timex Victory watches before I got one that worked for longer than a month. Then it sank. Replaced it with a Citizen America's Cup model.More money, but a nicer watch and it works.I've gone through five Casio Yacht Racing Watches in 7 years. I raceHobies a lot and all sorts of lines get caught on the watch and rip themoff. The plastic case is kind of soft. I guess it is better than takingyour hand off at the wrist. The other problem is the buttons on the sideget pressed by your gloves once in a while and stop the countdown. Kindof a bummer when your boat covers 29 feet a second in a breezeI'm down to my last watch and want to buy a couple more. Does anyone knowwhere to buy the Casio Yacht Racing version? I heard someone say theydon't make them anymore.

WATCHES CITIZEN WATCH : The best watch I found was the Casio Databank 100 which had 27 timezone entries which could be related to individual cities. There were 24 pre-programmed and the rest were user programmable. When it suffered a water ingress after the jewellers replaced the batteries (without asking about whether or not I was using it under water) I found that the unit was deleted from the catalogue. I could of course send it back to Casio but that would cost more than I paid for it in the first place. I may still do that sometime.In the meantime I use my Psion 3a for time-keeping and time-management. This does things in a similar way. My HP LX200 (personal organiser/palmtop PC) also keeps time in this way, automatically accounting for daylight-savings etc. across many timezones for many cities.
