WEDDING JEWELRY : Pearls or rhinestones? I'm a new Regional Manager with Liz SotoSignatures jewelry, and want to keep a good stock of the most popularstyles of wedding/special occasion jewelry for my customers. Will you be wearing pearl earrings on your wedding day orrhinestone/crystal/diamonds?What about your wedding attendants? Will they choose their own jewelryto wear, will you buy it as a gift for them, or will you choose thestyle and they will purchase themselves? Thanks for your help on this! You can answer to this list or email medirectly Julia(A former member of alt.wedding (April 1996)....) *****Julia SimmonsRegional ManagerLiz Soto Signatures Fashion Jewelry1-800-266-2205I hope those that answer will post to the group. I'm debating about what towear, since my fiancee has given me diamond earrings and a necklace, overthe past couple years. I like pearls, too, ......but wearing the gifts hegave would certainly please him. Guess I'll have to just go try them bothon with the dress, and listen to the answers that show up here.
WEDDING JEWELRY : I'm wearing diamond earlings my fiancee gave me for Christmas (they are verypretty... gold with dangline pear-shaped diamonds). I may get a newnecklace, or may wear an antique "A" charm that was my grandmother's on myfather's side (she passed away a few years ago). It depends on how it lookswith the dress (haven't found dress yet). My mom has more jewerly than sheknows what to do with (most of it is costume, but it is all very nice), andI may borrow something from her.... I know she would love for me to wear herwedding pearls, (it is also my birthstone), but I am not so fond of pearlnecklaces. It will be a suprise from my maid of honor - I've delegated that chore!I just hope it isn't too gaudy (most likely won't be since she has greattaste). I am not one to wear a lot of jewelry, and she enjoys buyingthat stuff, so it all worked out quite well. WEDDING JEWELRY : Maid of honor is choosing and buying her own jewelry too. This way thelook will tie in together. My gift to her will hopefully be morepersonal and durable than jewels to match her outfit.Just a few random thoughts... I'm not fond of rhinestones. They alwaysreminds me of prom and the 80's, particularly when used in excess. I tendto go for more simple, less-flashy jewelery. I wore a pearl necklace andstuds on my wedding day. It was a choice between that and a diamond andsapphire pendant and earrings. Since wedding gown styles seem to beleaning towards simple and elegant, I think it's easier for a bride to"get away" with wearing more elaborate jewelery. My attendants asked me what type of jewelery they should wear, and Isuggested pearls, but didn't push it. (Although I know some brides doinsist their attendants wear specific matching sets.) I actually ended upbuying them earrings because 2 out of 3 didn't have any to wear, but alsotold them they didn't have to wear them if they didn't want to. WEDDING JEWELRY : my dress has a band type collar, so no necklace. my bridesmaid's dresses aresimilar. i do plan to buy them some dangle type pearl earrings, and for mesince our colors are cobalt blue and silver i am going to get dome dangletype sapphire and diamond earrings so i have alittle of the blue that thebridesmaids will have in their dresses.I am wearing pearls. My fiance gave them to me for Xmas, and they will be veryspecial to us both for that reason. This is my second wedding. The first time around, I wore pearls also, becausemy gown was trimmed with them.I gave pearl neclaces to my attendants. I didnt insist they wear them, but theytook the hint. :)I have both pearls and diamonds. I prefer the pearls to the diamonds because tome they are more understated, which is my personal taste. WEDDING JEWELRY : I will be wearing heirloom jewelry for my wedding. I will wear a 150+year old gold "y" necklace with three small sapphires and a drop naturalpearl. Don't know yet about earrings, but most likely my mother's pearlstuds she wore on her wedding day 34 years ago. No bracelet, but I willhave my paternal great-grandmother's opal ring and the ring my paternalgrandfather gave me pinned to my crinoline inside an evening bag crochetedby my maternal great-grandmother. SO, the point of my post is, I'll be wearing both pearls and stones, but Idon't think I'd wear rhinestones on my wedding day. But that is not to saythat there is a market for good quality rhinestone jewelry.HTH!Mellissa--"mawaige...mawaige is what bwings us togewer today" - 'The Princess Bride'visit my webpage: Mellissa (and Jim) April 10/99, Chilliwack, BC, CanadaNeither. I wore earrings that my grandfather brought back from Francewhen he served in WWII. It was a very simple way to include somethingthat represented my past (and something blue, too, thanks to the colorsin the design).
