WORRY BEADS : Is this correct? I mean, I understand "not to be turned into a fashionaccesory w/o religious content", but I had a BF once who *wanted* to be able towear his rosary. but your post seems to inply that this is wrong. Many peoplein religious orders, especially contemplative ones, wear a rosary so theycan always have it near by for prayer. Some times it's even formalized assuch. So wearing it for the purpose of prayer is appropriate. But wearingit to advertise yourself as a Catholic seems suspect. And of course as yousaid, turning it into jewelry is out of line.My info came from a Catholic priest-- who is fairly young, modern, liberal,etc. He's adamant that wearing them is a no-no. WORRY BEADS : a short sharp answer would be "NO". i have never ever seen any moslem usingrosaries, worry beads as they are commonly known, for the statutory fivetimes a day prayers, the namaz.while still at school we were taken to mosque every friday for the communalprayers but never ever did i see anybody using their worry beads whilepraying.however, worry beads ARE used when people quietly and inwardly recite theirmantras (as do christians and people belonging to other religious groups, infact) which helps their concentration as they do not have to worry aboutcounting the number of times they have recited their mantras/aves or whathave you.i believe different rosaries have different number of beads on them. butdon't ask me how many beads moslem rosaries are supposed to have. i simplydon't know. i am the wrong person for such in-depth info on islamicpractises.
